This photo shows the detail and character of tufo stone.  Note the surface texture of the stone and the various materials that make up it's composition.  The lighter area is the harder and denser material that gives the stone its structural integrity and the darker areas are the softer material embedded within the stone which give it it's texture and character.  It is a very unique and beautiful stone.
